1. Dr. Buchholz currently practices radiation oncology at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston.
2. He also holds the Hubert L. Olive Stringer Distinguished Chair in Oncology at MD Anderson.
3. He previously served in numerous leadership roles at MD Anderson, including provost, physician-in-chief and executive vice president.
4. Prior to MD Anderson, Dr. Buchholz served in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the position of major.
5. In his new role, Dr. Buchholz will plan and oversee all clinical activities and programs at Scripps MD Anderson. He will also spearhead the development of clinical research activities.
6. In addition to serving as medical director, he will maintain a part-time clinical practice in San Diego.
7. Dr. Buchholz will assume his new leadership role in April.
