Sarasota Memorial Health Care System CEO Gwen MacKenzie to Step Down

Gwen MacKenzie, president and CEO of Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Health Care System, has announced plans to step down to take on a leadership position with St. Louis-based Ascension Health, effective June 1.

Ms. MacKenzie will serve as senior vice president of Ascension Health / Michigan market leader, overseeing the operations of Ascension Health’s five health systems in Michigan.

David Verinder, COO of Sarasota Memorial, will serve as interim CEO upon Ms. Mackenzie’s departure.
