Saint Joseph Mercy Health System taps president for 2 hospitals: 5 takeaways

Livonia, Mich.-based Saint Joseph Mercy Health System appointed Bill Manns president of St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor (Mich.) and St. Joseph Mercy Livingston in Howell, Mich., effective in October.

1. Mr. Manns currently serves as president of Mercy Health Saint Mary’s in Grand Rapids, Mich., a role he has held since 2013.

2. Mercy Health Saint Mary’s is a part of the 10-hospital statewide organization created by the merger of Livonia-based Trinity Health’s two Michigan health systems — Saint Joseph Mercy Health System and Mercy Health in Muskegon, Mich.

3. Mr. Manns previously served in several leadership roles over the course of his healthcare career, including as COO of Alameda Health System in Oakland, Calif.

4. He currently serves on the Michigan Hospital Association’s Legislative Policy Panel and was appointed by the governor to the state’s Public Health Advisory Council.

5. Mr. Manns is the permanent successor to David Brooks, who left the role in April.
