Saint Barnabas Medical Center names new CEO

Stephen P. Zieniewicz has been named president and CEO of Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, N.J., effective September 8.

“Mr. Zieniewicz is a healthcare executive with extensive leadership experience in complex academic medical centers,” Barry Ostrowsky, president and CEO of West Orange, N.J-based Barnabas Health. “At the University of Washington Medical Center, his consistent focus has been on safety, quality, physician alignment, evidence-based performance improvement, and population health, among many areas.”

Mr. Zieniewicz currently serves as director of the University of Washington Medical Center in Seattle. Prior to this position, he was COO of Saint Louis University Hospital in St. Louis. Between 1977 and 2004, he held administrative positions at several hospitals, including South Nassau Communities Hospital in Oceanside, N.Y., Long Island Health Network in Melville, N.Y., Winthrop-University Hospital in Mineola, N.Y., Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, N.Y.
