George Helmy has been promoted to chief corporate affairs officer at West Orange, N.J.-based RWJBarnabas Health.
Mr. Helmy most recently served as executive vice president and chief external affairs and policy officer, according to his LinkedIn profile.
He returned to the system in December 2024, resuming his previous role as chief external affairs and policy officer after serving in the Senate from Sept. 9 to Dec. 8. He filled the remainder of Sen. Bob Menendez’s term after the senator resigned in summer 2024. Mr. Helmy initially joined the health system in 2023.
Mr. Helmy wrote in a June 12 LinkedIn post that RWJBarnabas Health has built a community health model that includes New Jersey’s first street medicine program, mobile pediatric unit in underserved communities and SNAP navigators in every facility.
“I’ve spent my career in and around public service, and I can say without hesitation that being part of this work is one of the great privileges of my career,” he said. “We believe this is where American health care has to go, and we’re proving it works at the scale of the state’s largest health system.”
