Rome Memorial Hospital CEO resigns: 4 things to know

Rome (N.Y.) Memorial Hospital President and CEO Basil J. Ariglio, who is known as "Buzz," has resigned after 23 years of service.

Here are four things to know about Mr. Ariglio and his resignation.

1. Mr. Ariglio resigned Aug. 18 due to personal reasons. "Buzz regrets the sudden nature of his departure to tend to family matters," said RMH Board of Trustees Chairman Chester Patrick, MD, declining to provide any additional details in regard to Mr. Ariglio's resignation. 

2. Mr. Ariglio joined the hospital as CFO in 1992, was promoted to senior vice president and COO in 2005. He was named CEO in 2011.

3. During his tenure, the hospital added new services and made significant investments "to modernize its infrastructure and advance quality of care," RMH said.

4. The hospital board has named former President and CEO Darlene A. Burns, RN, as interim CEO as it develops a plan for a permanent successor.
