Rockford Health System CEO to retire: 5 things to know

Rockford (Ill.) Health System President and CEO Gary Kaatz will retire effective June 26, according to the Rockford Register Star.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Kaatz.

1. Mr. Kaatz has led Rockford Health System for 15 years.

2. During his time at Rockford, Mr. Kaatz led the effort to find an integrated health system partner, according to the report. A merger between Janesville, Wis.-based Mercy Health System and Rockford Health System was approved last year.

3. Prior to joining Rockford Health System, Mr. Kaatz was CEO of Forum Health in Youngstown, Ohio.

4. Mr. Kaatz has been an active member of the Illinois Hospital Association since 1987, and he was also a member of its board of trustees from 2005-13.

5. Mr. Kaatz was elected to serve as chairman of the Illinois Hospital Association in 2011.
