Rhode Island health center names CMO

Woonsocket, R.I.-based Thundermist Health Center has named Jeffrey Gaines, MD, as chief medical officer, effective April 22.

Dr. Gaines succeeds David Bourassa, who had served as chief medical officer since 1998 and will continue providing patient care as a pediatrician, according to an April 22 hospital news release.

Dr. Gaines most recently served as chief medical officer and vice president of medical affairs at Newport Hospital, part of Brown University Health.

In his new role, he oversees clinical operations and leads more than 100 providers across three locations. Thundermist employs more than 650 individuals and serves more than 65,000 patients statewide.
