Reno, Nev.-based Renown Health has brought in Douglas Copley as interim chief information security and technology officer, filling the seat Steven Ramirez vacated when he left for Carle Health.

Mr. Copley announced the move on LinkedIn and said he will serve while Renown conducts a permanent search. He said he looks forward to “providing them value and expertise” during that search.

He joins Renown from Atlantic City, N.J.-based AtlantiCare, where he had served as chief information security officer since 2020.

Since 2012, Mr. Copley has also run Data Protection Partners, a firm that provides fractional CIO, CISO and privacy leadership. He was CIO and CISO of Marshfield Medical Center-Dickinson in Iron Mountain, Mich., from 2021 to 2023. From 2012 to 2015, he was CISO of Royal Oak, Mich.-based Beaumont Health System, where he built the security program for the eight-hospital, 33,000-employee system.

His earlier roles include deputy CISO at Forcepoint, advisory CISO at Duo Security, chief privacy officer at Ally Financial and global information security manager at Ford Motor Co.

Mr. Ramirez held Renown’s combined security and technology role from May 2023 until September 2026, when he became senior vice president and chief technology officer of Urbana, Ill.-based Carle Health.

Renown is northern Nevada’s largest nonprofit integrated health network, serving Nevada, Lake Tahoe and northeast California.
