John Bowen has stepped down from his newly appointed role as senior vice president and president of Novant Health’s Triad Region, the Triad Business Journal reported June 17.
Novant spokesperson Josh Jarman confirmed to Becker’s that Mr. Bowen decided to stay at his current employer due to family-related reasons. He added that this decision was made before Mr. Bowen assumed his new role.
“We fully support John Bowen’s decision to remain at his current employer due to family-related reasons,” Mr. Jarman said. “While we appreciate that this was not an easy decision, it’s a testament to John’s character, and we wish him the very best with his future endeavors.”
Novant Health, a 19-hospital health system based in Winston-Salem, N.C., recently appointed three new executives, including Mr. Bowen, to its Triad Region leadership team. The appointments were designed to round out the region’s leadership team after Novant restructured its operating model in February.
Mr. Bowen, president of Parkview Regional Medical Center and affiliates in Fort Wayne, Ind., was slated to join Novant on June 16.
Additionally, Chris Brown, RN, joined Novant on May 19 as facility president and COO of Novant Health Thomasville (N.C.) Medical Center, and Jon Mercer will join Novant on June 30 as president and COO of Novant Health Clemmons (N.C.) Medical Center.
Moving forward, Novant “remains well-positioned to move forward with its recently announced Triad leaders,” Mr. Jarman said, adding that the health system will initiate a new search for a senior vice president to oversee the region.
