Kimberly Chavalas Cripe, CEO of Rady Children’s Health, plans to transition to a president emeritus role once a new CEO is in place and fully onboarded, the health system told Becker’s.

Under the original merger plan for the San Diego and Orange, Calif.-based system, Ms. Cripe and Patrick Frias, MD, were to serve as co-CEOs for a transition period before Dr. Frias became sole CEO. After Dr. Frias left earlier this year to become CEO of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, the system began a national search for a new CEO.

Ms. Cripe remains fully engaged in leading the organization and is committed to ensuring a smooth transition, according to the health system.
