Phelps County Regional Medical Center promoted Ed Clayton to CEO role: 5 things to know

Phelps County Regional Medical Center in Rolla, Mo., has promoted Ed Clayton, its current CFO and COO, to the hospital's CEO post, according to a Waynesville Daily Guide report.

Here are five things to know about Mr. Clayton.

1. He has worked at PCRMC for the last 14 years in a wide range of roles. He was named CFO in 2000 and took on the COO responsibilities around a year ago, according to the report. He also previously was administrative director of finance from 2006 to 2010, and served as hospital controller before that.

2. He will begin his new role at the beginning of 2016, succeeding John Denbo, who has been hospital CEO since 2002.

3. As CEO, Mr. Clayton aims to add more specialty care physicians while continuing to add to PCRMC's primary care workforce, according to the report.

4. Prior to PCRMC, Mr. Clayton worked in the accounting department at Indianapolis-based consulting firm Olive. He also previously worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois.

5. Mr. Clayton earned a bachelor's degree in accounting from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale. He later received a Master of Business Administration from Webster University in Webster Groves, Mo.
