Passavant Area Hospital taps Harry Schmidt to lead as CEO: 4 things to know

Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, Ill., an affiliate of Springfield, Ill.-based Memorial Health System, named Harry Schmidt president and CEO.

Here are four things to know:

1. Mr. Schmidt currently serves as vice president of facilities management for Memorial Health System. He will assume his new role in 2017.

2. He replaces Doug Rahn, DBA, who has served as CEO since April 2014 and is retiring at the end of the year.

3. Mr. Schmidt has been with Memorial Health System since 2007, prior to which he served as a professional military officer in the U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force.

4. As VP of facilities management for the health system, Mr. Schmidt oversaw a team of more than 400 employees.
