Dr. DeSalvo will leave her role as the national coordinator for health IT if confirmed for the HHS post.
Dr. DeSalvo was hired as ONC chief in 2013. Last fall, she was named acting assistant secretary for health to help coordinate a response to the global Ebola outbreak.
In her position, Dr. DeSalvo will specifically oversee the office of the surgeon general, the national vaccine program and the office of minority health, according to the report.
