Brian Mitchell has been named chief data and analytics officer of Columbus-based The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, effective Oct. 1.
Mr. Mitchell currently serves as senior director of information technology and HIPAA security officer for OSU Physicians, according to a news release shared with Becker’s. He will support a transition from that role as he moves into the new position.
He has more than 30 years of healthcare data, analytics and technology leadership experience at OSU Physicians. His work has included data and technology strategy, analytics, artificial intelligence innovation, predictive modeling and initiatives supporting physician practice operations and enterprise decision-making.
In his new role, Mr. Mitchell will lead the medical center’s Analytics Center of Excellence and oversee areas including enterprise analytics strategy, data governance, advanced analytics and the responsible adoption of AI.
He will also work with clinical, operational, research, academic and technology leaders to strengthen the organization’s data and analytics capabilities and expand the use of data-driven decision-making.
