In the new role, Dr. Paz will oversee the Columbus-based Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center enterprise, which includes seven hospitals. He will also be responsible for Ohio State’s seven health sciences colleges, along with the provost, and 20-plus research institutes.
Dr. Paz serves as executive vice president and CMO at Aetna, based in Hartford, Conn. He is a professor adjunct of internal medicine at New Haven-based Yale University School of Medicine and volunteers as a pulmonary physician at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in West Haven, Conn.
Dr. Paz previously worked at Penn State University in State College, Pa., where he served in several leadership roles, including as CEO of Penn State Milton S. Hershey (Pa.) Medical Center and president and CEO of Penn State Health, based in Hershey.
Additionally, he has served as a board member and chair of the Association of Academic Health Centers and the Association of American Medical Colleges’ Council of Deans.
