Derek Anderson was appointed president of Putnam Hospital in Carmel, N.Y., while continuing to serve as president of Mount Kisco, N.Y.-based Northern Westchester Hospital, according to a July 21 news release shared with Becker’s.
Mr. Anderson has led Northern Westchester Hospital since 2019. Under his tenure, the hospital earned a five-star rating from CMS for three consecutive years and achieved Magnet recertification with distinction, according to the release. He joined Northwell Health in 2009 as a financial and strategic planning analyst.
Mr. Anderson succeeds Mark Hirko, MD, who retired after nine years of service. Dr. Hirko assumed full-time leadership at Putnam Hospital in 2022.
Putnam Hospital is a 164-bed acute care facility and the only hospital in Putnam County. New Hyde Park-based Northwell Health is the largest nonprofit health system in the Northeast, operating 28 hospitals and more than 1,000 outpatient facilities.
