NMC Health Network CEO Philip Koovakada to resign

Philip Koovakada, CEO of Nacogdoches, Texas-based NMC Health Network, is resigning for a new job opportunity, according to The Light and Champion.

Mr. Koovakada will become president and CEO of St. Luke's Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, effective Dec. 11. He has served as leader of NMC Health Network since 2018, overseeing a 161-bed acute care hospital and 10 outpatient centers. He joined the organization as COO in 2016.

During his tenure, NMC Health Network earned level 4 trauma center designation from the Texas Department of State Health and the Joint Commission's Gold Seal of Approval for chest pain and total joint replacement. He also oversaw the development of new service lines, including bariatrics and minimally invasive surgery.

Mr. Koovakada is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and earned a master's degree in healthcare administration from California State University in Los Angeles.
