Utica, N.Y.-based Mohawk Valley Health System has appointed Anu Banerjee, PhD, as COO.
In his new role, Dr. Banerjee will oversee clinical support services, operational support services and product lines, and will work closely with quality and medical education, according to a June 17 health system news release.
He also will partner with leaders across the organization to support operational performance, patient experience and organizational growth.
Most recently, Dr. Banerjee served as CEO of California Health Care Facility in Stockton. In that role, he oversaw more than 2,100 registered nurses, 3,600 employees and approximately 250 primary and specialty care providers, while managing an annual budget exceeding $760 million.
During his tenure at California Health Care Facility, he led efforts to add service lines, improve patient satisfaction and employee engagement and reduce infection rates.
Mohawk Valley Health System is the parent company of Wynn Hospital, MVHS Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and Visiting Nurse Association of Utica and Oneida County, according to its website. The integrated system has 3,300 full-time equivalent employees and a combined operating budget of $648 million.
