Nantucket Cottage Hospital names Gary Shaw CEO

Nantucket (Mass.) Cottage Hospital has selected Gary Shaw to serve as president and CEO, effective Dec. 9.

Mr. Shaw has more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience and two decades of experience serving in the U.S. Navy’s Medical Service Corps.

Most recently, he was president of Cambridge (Minn.) Medical Center, part of Minneapolis-based Allina Health, where he led the development of a $9 million outpatient clinic. Mr. Shaw also was hospital administrator of the Alaska Native Medical Center in Anchorage.

In the U.S. Navy, Mr. Shaw became lieutenant commander of the Navy’s Medical Service Corps. He served during four wars, including the Bosnian war.

At Nantucket Cottage, he succeeds Margot Hartmann, MD, who stepped down as president and CEO in September. Jeanette Ives Erickson, DNP, RN, who has been serving  as interim president and CEO, will assist the hospital as a consultant.
