Nantucket Cottage Hospital CEO Dr. Margot Hartmann to retire in 2019: 3 notes

Nantucket (Mass.) Cottage Hospital President and CEO Margot Hartmann, MD, PhD, is retiring, effective in the summer of 2019.

Here are three notes:

1. The leadership transition at the hospital will take 18 months in total.

2. The board of trustees and Dr. Hartmann will soon begin the search for her successor. Once the new leader is identified, they will take on the CEO role, while Dr. Hartmann will work alongside them as president until her last day at the hospital in 2019.

3. Dr. Hartmann joined the hospital as a physician in 1999, and she rose to assume her current roles in 2010, according to a report by The Inquirer and Mirror.

“I foresee this as a careful and prudent handover, given these transformative times for our hospital, and look forward to our continuing work together to achieve the best for NCH and the island community we serve,” said Dr. Hartmann in a statement.
