Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami names new chief medical officer

Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach, Fla., has appointed Alon Weizer, MD, as its chief medical officer and senior vice president.

Dr. Weizer joins the medical center from University of Michigan Health’s St. Joseph Mercy Chelsea (Mich.) Hospital, where he worked in various capacities over the course of 18 years — including as the chief medical officer for the last three years. 

Dr. Weizer is replacing Robert Goldszer, MD, who led Mount Sinai Medical Center as its chief medical officer for the last 14 years. Dr. Goldszer is transitioning to the role of senior vice president of academic affairs, according to a press release shared with Becker’s.

Dr. Weizer’s appointment to the role became effective in January.
