Here are four notes:
1. Mr. Duncan was placed on a leave of absence Feb. 7, after 20-plus physicians at the institution’s flagship hospital signed a letter of no confidence in Mr. Duncan.
2. The letter noted several issues, including the hiring of three cardiologists who did not see patients but were paid full salaries.
3. In an emailed Mon Health statement, Mr. Duncan said, “After taking some time to reflect on our situation and what is best for the organization, I have decided to resign as president and CEO of Mon Health.”
He also noted, “During my 12 years we have consistently been nationally recognized for patient satisfaction, patient safety, clinical quality and financial stability…[t]his organization is well positioned for continued success.”
4. Dottie Oakes, MSN, RN, took over as interim CEO of the health system after Mr. Duncan was placed on leave. However, she resigned March 21.
“At this time, leadership will continue by our executive leadership group while a search for a new CEO is underway,” Mon Health told Becker’s Hospital Review in an email.
