Waconia, Minn.-based Ridgeview has appointed Ben Nielsen as its next president and CEO, effective June 14.
He will succeed Mike Phelps, who plans to retire Jan. 2, according to a June 4 health system news release.
Mr. Nielsen has held several leadership roles at Ridgeview during the last 16 years. He served as executive director from 2010 to 2013, vice president of ambulatory services from 2014 to 2019 and has served as COO since 2019, the release said.
As COO, Mr. Nielsen is accountable for Ridgeview’s ambulatory operations across four hospital campuses, 12 primary care locations, specialty clinics, rehabilitation services and ambulance services.
Mr. Phelps will remain with the organization through 2026 to support the leadership transition.
