The board fired CEO Randy Flechsig Aug. 28, the hospital confirmed with Becker’s. Bobbi McColley, Sheridan Community’s HIPAA compliance officer, will take over as interim CEO.

In a press statement emailed to Becker’s, Ms. McColley said: “With recent changes, we have a leadership team in place that is capable of accelerating our growth and I look forward to working closely with them to help execute the next phase of Sheridan Community Hospital.”

Mr. Flechsig joined the hospital in 2012. Prior to that, he served as president of Davenport University in Grand Rapids, Mich. He resigned from that post in 2008 after a drunk driving arrest.

While hospital employees accused Mr. Flechsig of mismanagement, he refuted the claims, stating the hospital was operating well after a decision to outsource inpatient services, according to WOOD TV.

The hospital also made news in February when a former physician was indicted on federal charges.
