Michael Burnett named CEO of Piedmont Athens Regional: 5 things to know

Atlanta-based Piedmont Healthcare named Michael Burnett CEO of Piedmont Athens (Ga.) Regional Medical Center, effective May 1.

Five things to know:

1. Mr. Burnett is currently CEO of Piedmont Fayette Hospital in Fayetteville, Ga.

2. He has worked at Piedmont since 1996.

3. As CEO of Piedmont Fayette, Mr. Burnett oversaw the hospital’s growth from 100 to 282 beds. He also led the addition and expansion of several services, including a comprehensive cancer center and women’s services.

4. He holds an MBA and a master’s in health administration from Georgia State University in Atlanta.

5. He succeeds Charles A. Peck, MD, who resigned for a job at Navigant Consulting.
