Mercy Health St. Mary’s taps new president: 4 things to know

Mercy Health St. Mary’s in Grand Rapids, Mich., appointed Hyung Tai Kim, MD, president, effective May 6.

Four things to know:

1. Dr. Kim is a senior associate dean for clinical affairs at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in East Lansing.

2. He previously was a leader of the healthcare practice at McKinsey & Co., a consultancy firm.

3. In addition to his medical training, Dr. Kim has an MBA at Ann Arbor-based University of Michigan.

4. He is the permanent successor of Bill Manns, who left the role last year to serve as president of St. Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor (Mich.) and St. Joseph Mercy Livingston in Howell, Mich. Interim President David Baumgartner, MD, will return to the CMO position.
