Medical Center Health System taps CFO as interim CEO: 4 points

Odessa, Texas-based Medical Center Health System selected Robert Abernethy to serve as interim CEO, effective June 17, according to an Odessa American report.

Four points:

1. Mr. Abernethy is CFO of the organization.

2. He previously served as CFO of Medical Center Health System from August 2000 to September 2012, and then came out of retirement in November 2017 to take on the CFO role.

3. Mr. Abernethy succeeds Rick Napper, who announced in May that he would retire Sept. 15.

4. Earlier this month, Mr. Napper announced he planned to retire sooner than he had initially stated. He stepped down from the role, effective June 14, and plans to move to Kentucky with his wife.
