Medical Center Health System CFO Jon Riggs to step down: 5 things to know

Odessa, Texas-based Medical Center Health System Senior Vice President and CFO Jon Riggs is resigning, effective Nov. 17, according to an Odessa American report.

Here are five things to know:

1. Mr. Riggs is leaving for a new job opportunity in Colorado, a hospital spokesperson told the Odessa American.

2. He joined the health system in 2012, prior to which he served as controller of the Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.

3. Robert Abernethy will take over as temporary CFO. He previously served as CFO of Odessa-based Medical Center Hospital for 12 years before retiring in 2012.

4. Mr. Abernethy will take on financial management of a system that has seen numerous challenges over the last few years, including a loss of government funding and sales tax revenues.

5. Additionally, Medical Center Health System CEO William Webster is set to retire in January 2018.
