Five notes:
1. Ms. Thomas became COO of the hospital in August 2018.
2. She was previously COO of Lynn (Mass.) Community Health Center.
3. Denise Schepici, who became president and CEO of the hospital in January 2018, told the Vineyard Gazette that she created the COO role to improve engagement between the hospital and the community it serves.
4. Ms. Schepici also said that she may not fill the COO position. “I’ve got to think whether I will refill the COO position . . . it’s taken me awhile to get to know people, but we have a strong team and we’re regrouping,” she told the Vineyard Gazette.
5. Kevin Irwin, Ms. Thomas’ husband and the hospital’s director of community program development, has also resigned.
