Most recently, Mr. Uffer was inland regional CEO for Prime Healthcare Services in Ontario, Calif. He was also the administrator for San Bernardino County, Calif., but was fired in 2009. He claimed he was fired for cooperating with prosecutors on corruption investigations, according to The Press-Enterprise. He filed a wrongful termination suit against the county and received a $650,000 settlement.

He succeeds Kevan Metcalfe, who resigned in August for undisclosed reasons. In September 2012, physicians at the hospital voted in support of a no-confidence vote to request Mr. Metcalfe’s immediate resignation because of his “antagonistic management practices.”
