Lovelace Health taps former Virginia Mason exec as CEO

Albuquerque, N.M.-based Lovelace Health System, a five-hospital system, has appointed David Schultz president and CEO, effective April 17. He succeeds Janelle Raborn, who retired after almost 40 years with the health system.

Mr. Schulz has more than 25 years of experience leading hospital and physician groups, most recently serving as senior vice president of operations and service lines for Tacoma, Wash.-based Virginia Mason Franciscan Health.

He held various leadership roles during his eight years at Virginia Mason, including market president for its Peninsula Region and president of Harrison Medical Center in Bremerton, Wash. He previously held executive leadership roles for hospitals in Arizona, Oklahoma, Texas and Washington.

Mr. Schulz is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and has a master's in healthcare administration from Trinity University in San Antonio.
