Mr. Turkel most recently served as CEO of Regional hospital of Scranton (Pa.), prior to which he was CEO of Philadelphia-based Chestnut Hill Hospital. He replaces Russell Baxley as CEO of Lancaster Regional, who stepped down to take on a new role at a South Carolina-based hospital.

Both Lancaster Regional and Heart of Lancaster are part of Franklin, Tenn.-based Community Health Systems. The two hospitals used to operate under the leadership of one market CEO, but in 2014, the hospitals hired two separate CEOs, according to the report.
