Kentucky system taps regional chief medical officer

Lexington, Ky.-based Appalachian Regional Healthcare named David Stuart, MD, chief medical officer of its West Virginia Region.

In his new position, he will act as leading physicians administrator for three hospitals in the region: Beckley (W.Va.) ARH Hospital, Summers County ARH Hospital in Hinton, W.Va., and Tug Valley ARH Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, Ky. Dr. Stuart will also serve as liaison between medical and administrative staff and ensure clinical competency among physicians, according to an Aug. 29 system news release.
