The University of Kansas Health System in Kansas City has named Monica Lubeck system CFO on July 1, according to a LinkedIn post from the system.

Doug Gaston, The University of Kansas Health System’s current senior vice president and CFO, will step down from his role but will continue supporting several critical projects to ensure a smooth transition.

Mr. Gaston joined the system in 2017 and became CFO in 2018. During that time, the system saw significant growth and transformation, navigating the COVID-19 pandemic and expanding through multiple integrations.

“The strength of this organization has always been its people,” Mr. Gaston said in the post. “[Ms. Lubeck] and I have worked closely on this transition for several months, and I have tremendous confidence in her leadership.”

With more than 35 years of healthcare finance experience, Ms. Lubeck previously served as the system’s chief revenue officer and senior vice president and CFO of its Kansas City division.

Ms. Lubeck joined The University of Kansas Health System in 1999 as its director of internal audit. She then served as executive director of audit and compliance and chief compliance officer from 1999 to 2017 before assuming senior financial leadership roles.

“I see this role as an opportunity to more directly impact the future of the health system and participate in decisions that shape our strategic direction,” Ms. Lubeck said. “Healthcare finance is challenging, with many factors outside our control, but I take seriously the responsibility that comes with helping guide the organization forward.”
