Kaiser taps executive director for Washington medical group

Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente has selected Linda Tolbert, MD, as executive medical director for the Washington Permanente Medical Group in Seattle. 

Dr. Tolbert stepped into her position May 15 and succeeded Paul Minardi, MD, who is now executive vice president and CEO of the KP Medical Foundation. She is the first Black woman to serve as an executive medical director at Kaiser Permanente, according to a May 18 news release.

First joining Kaiser in 1993, Dr. Tolbert has more than two decades of experience in operations, leadership and strategy development. She most recently served as regional chief of dermatology at the Southern California Permanente Medical Group. She was also an assistant professor of clinical science and inaugural chair of the faculty advisory council at the Bernard J. Tyson Kaiser Permanente School of Medicine in Pasadena, Calif.

The Washington Permanente Medical Group is a multispecialty group practice consisting of more than 1,300 physicians, physician assistants, optometrists, midwives and psychologists.
