Shaun Smith was named executive vice president and chief people officer of Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente, effective Oct. 12.
Mr. Smith will lead the system’s enterprise human resources strategy and operations, with a focus on talent development and a multiyear effort to strengthen its culture, according to a Sept. 9 news release.
He joins from New York City-based NewYork-Presbyterian, where he was group senior vice president and chief people and culture officer. He has more than 25 years of human resources leadership experience in academic health systems.
“Shaun brings deep expertise in labor relations, organizational transformation, talent strategy, and culture,” Greg Adams, chair and CEO of Kaiser Permanente, said in the release. “His leadership will help us continue to invest in our people, strengthen career and development opportunities across the enterprise, and foster a culture where employees can do their best work.”
Kaiser Permanente serves 12.6 million members across nine states and Washington, D.C.
