Kaiser names chief public affairs officer

Beth Leonard was appointed senior vice president and chief public affairs officer for Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente, effective Feb. 2.

In her new role, Ms. Leonard will oversee communications, government relations and community relations at the federal, state and local levels for Kaiser, a 40-hospital health system with about 243,000 employees, according to a Jan. 15 system news release.

She most recently served as chief corporate affairs officer for Deerfield, Ill.-based Walgreens Boots Alliance. Ms. Leonard previously held leadership roles at EmblemHealth, a nonprofit health plan and provider organization based in New York, and at AHIP (formerly America’s Health Insurance Plans), where she served as executive vice president of public affairs and strategic initiatives.
