Kaiser names chief legal officer

Vanessa Benavides has been named senior vice president and chief legal officer for Kaiser Foundation Health Plan and Hospitals, the company announced Dec. 14.

Ms. Benavides will manage legal, compliance and regulatory affairs starting Dec. 26. 

She is stepping into the role after Mark Zemelman, senior vice president and general counsel, announced his retirement after 30 years, according to the announcement.

Ms. Benavides joined Kaiser Permanente in 2015 as senior vice president and chief compliance and privacy officer. Prior to joining Kaiser, she served as chief compliance officer for Tenet Healthcare.
