Jean Meyer to serve as inaugural COO of Ascension Michigan

St. Louis-based Ascension selected Jean Meyer, BSN, MSN, to serve in the newly established role of COO at Detroit-based Ascension Michigan, effective Aug. 1. Ascension Michigan includes 15 hospitals and hundreds of related healthcare facilities.

Ms. Meyer currently serves as president and CEO of St. John Providence in Detroit, part of Ascension Michigan. Her previous roles include president of Providence Park Hospital in Novi, Mich., and senior vice president and CNO at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, part of Ascension Indiana.

Together with Ascension Michigan Chief Clinical Officer Donald D. Bignotti, MD, Ms. Meyer will develop and manage the health system’s clinically integrated care system.

“We are excited to be taking this important step in building an integrated Ascension Michigan,” said Gwen MacKenzie, Ascension Michigan Ministry market executive and senior vice president at Ascension Healthcare.
