Indianapolis-based Indiana University Health has appointed Art Vasquez as president of its newly aligned North Region. He stepped into the role Jan. 5.

The North Region includes IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie, Ind., and hospitals and outpatient facilities throughout Delaware, Blackford, Jay, Allen, Tippecanoe, White, Clinton and Tipton counties, according to a health system news release shared with Becker’s on Jan. 13. Mr. Vasquez will oversee regional strategy while local leaders continue to manage daily operations and community engagement.

The alignment supports stronger collaboration and consistency throughout the region, Brian Shockney, senior vice president of system regional operations, said in the release.

Mr. Vasquez joined IU Health in 2016 and has served as president of the West Region since 2021. His prior roles at IU Health include COO and CFO of IU Health West Hospital in Avon and COO for the Indianapolis Suburban Region.

He succeeds Jeff Bird, MD, who will retire in early 2026 after four decades of service to the Muncie community and IU Health East Region.

At the Becker's 11th Annual IT + Revenue Cycle Conference: The Future of AI & Digital Health, taking place September 14–17 in Chicago, healthcare executives and digital leaders from across the country will come together to explore how AI, interoperability, cybersecurity, and revenue cycle innovation are transforming care delivery, strengthening financial performance, and driving the next era of digital health.
