IU Health divides COO role

Indiana University Health has split the responsibilities of its chief operating officer role and named four senior leaders to new positions.

The Indianapolis-based health system has divided the job among two new positions. Ron Stiver, former president of system health solutions, will now serve as senior vice president of system healthcare operations. He'll share COO responsibilities with Brian Shockney, former president of the system's South Central region, who was promoted to senior vice president of system regional operations.

The pair succeed Michelle Janney, PhD, RN, who is retiring as executive vice president and COO after eight years with the health system.

Additionally, Ben Mensalis, MD, was named senior vice president and chief digital and information officer, according to the July 27 news release shared with Becker's. He previously served as vice president and chief digital officer, and succeeds Tim Tarnowski, who has retired.

In its fourth and final appointment, Erin Lewis was named senior vice president, general counsel and chief administrative officer of the system. She previously served as senior vice president, general counsel and chief of staff, per the news release.
