Interfaith Medical Center names new CEO: 3 things to know

Interfaith Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., has named LaRay Brown president and CEO, effective in February, according to a Crain’s New York Business report.

Here are three things to know about Ms. Brown.

1. For nearly 30 years, Ms. Brown has worked at NYC Health + Hospitals, the city’s public hospital system, formerly known as the Health and Hospitals Corp. She is currently senior vice president for corporate planning, community health and intergovernmental relations. She also previously served as the health system’s liaison to elected officials.

2. In her newest role, she will be the first female African-American president of a private hospital in New York City, according to the report.

3. Ms. Brown replaces Steven Korf, who has been president and CEO since March 2014 as part of the hospital’s bankruptcy restructuring team.
