Inova Health System selects Novant Health exec as first physician chief: 4 notes

Falls Church, Va.-based Inova Health System tapped Steve Motew, MD, to serve as its first chief physician executive, effective May 13.

Four notes:

1. Dr. Motew most recently served as senior vice president at Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health and president of Novant Health Institutes and Innovation Centers.

2. He was previously president of Novant Health’s Winston-Salem market.

3. A vascular surgeon, he earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago.

4. He also holds a master’s degree in healthcare administration from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
