Indian Health Service appoints acting CMIO

Michael Toedt, MD, executive director of clinical services at Cherokee (N.C.) Indian Hospital, has been named acting CMIO for the Indian Health Service, according to a report in Cherokee One Feather.

Dr. Toedt’s one-year term with the IHS in Rockville, Md., will begin Oct. 1. Once he has completed his detail, Dr. Toedt will return to Cherokee, N.C., and become the medical director for Purchased/Referred Care, the division of IHS that purchases procedures and services not available at tribal hospitals, according to the report.
