Most recently, Mr. Diegel served as president and CEO of St. Charles Health System in Bend, Ore. He left the health system in 2014, after a number of leadership cuts. However, Mr. Diegel attributed his leaving to achieving his goal of creating “a regional health delivery system,” according to The Bend Bulletin.
Mr. Diegel was also formerly executive director of Central Oregon District Hospital in Redmond and a board member of American Hospital Association.
Mr. Diegel succeeds CEO James Edwards. The hospital has not made clear the reason for leadership change, however, Howard University Hospital, which reported significant financial losses in fiscal years 2014 and 2015, had “become profitable again, making $4.3 million in operating income in fiscal 2016,” according to the report.
