Dr. Chang will assume the role in January, overseeing the health system’s research and education programs. Houston Methodist is an academic medical center affiliated with Weill Cornell Medical College and New York Presbyterian Hospital, both based in New York City.
Marc Boom, MD, president and CEO of Houston Methodist, announced Dr. Chang’s appointment in a Dec. 6 LinkedIn post, calling her “an accomplished clinician-scientiest and remarkable leader who has transformed our cancer center since joining in 2010.”
Currently, Dr. Chang serves as director of the Houston Methodist Dr. Mary and Ron Neal Cancer Center, Dr. Chang leads a team of more than 158 physicians and researchers.
She succeeds Dirk Sostman, MD, who is retiring in February after more than 20 years as Houston Methodist’s chief academic officer.
