Hospital for Special Care selects Dr. J. Kevin Shushtari as CMO: 4 points

Hospital for Special Care, a freestanding long-term acute care hospital in New Britain, Conn., tapped J. Kevin Shushtari, MD, to serve as CMO.

Here are four points:

1. Dr. Shushtari most recently served as executive medical director of post-acute services at Sarasota (Fla.) Memorial Health Care System.

2. He is the founding medical director of the Mercy Inpatient Medical Service, the first fully staffed hospitalist program in the U.S.

3. He also co-founded the U.S.’s first online pharmacy.

4. Dr. Shushtari completed his internship and internal medicine residency at Cambridge, Mass.-based Mount Auburn Hospital-Harvard Medical School.
