High Point Regional appoints 2 administrators: 8 things to know

High Point (N.C.) Regional Health, part of Chapel Hill-based UNC Health Care, has announced the appointments of two key members to the administrative team.

Here are eight things to know about the leaders.

Stacy Goldsholl, MD, will serve as executive vice president of UNC Regional Physicians.

1. As executive vice president of UNC Regional Physicians, Dr. Goldsholl will oversee the medical direction of over 25 practices and 300 physicians and staff.

2. Dr. Goldsholl will succeed Greg Taylor, MD, who will retire as COO of UNC Regional Physicians in late September after 10 years of service with the organization. 

3. Dr. Goldsholl's background includes serving as president of the hospital medicine division for Knoxville, Tenn.-based TeamHealth, providing national physician leadership, operational oversight and business development for 600 hospitalists from Puerto Rico to Hawaii. Most recently she has served as a healthcare executive consultant for the management and turnaround of employed physician networks. 

4. Dr. Goldsholl completed an executive MBA at the Kenan-Flagler School of Business in Chapel Hill and she received her medical degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.  

Kevin E. Smith will serve as COO of High Point Regional.

5. Mr. Smith most recently served as COO of Baylor Scott & White Medical Center- Round Rock (Texas) and Baylor Scott & White Medical Center-Taylor (Texas).

6. As COO of High Point Regional, Mr. Smith will have an important role in regard to all operational aspects of the hospital.

7. Mr. Smith's background includes working in healthcare for more than 16 years in various clinical positions as a radiology technologist and nuclear medicine technologist. His past administrative positions include a directorship at College Station (Texas) Medical Center and directorship at Scott & White Hospital-Round Rock.

8. Mr. Smith holds a master's degree in healthcare administration from Texas A&M Health Science Center in Round Rock and a bachelor of science in radiology sciences from Wichita Falls, Texas-based Midwestern State University.
