Henry Ford Health Network CEO Steps Down to Head Advocate Lutheran General

Anthony A. Armada will step down from his post as president and CEO of Henry Ford Hospital and Health Network in Detroit to become president of Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill., according a release from Advocate Health Care.

While Henry Ford is a network of three hospitals, including 802-bed Henry Ford Hospital, Lutheran General is a 492-bed hospital outside of Chicago, within 11-hospital Advocate Health Care.

In an internal memo announcing Mr. Armada’s departure, Bob Riney, Henry Ford’s executive vice president and COO, wrote that he is in the process of developing an interim organizational structure, to be completed next week, according to a report by Crain’s Detroit Business.

During five years at Henry Ford, Mr. Armada engineered a $90 million turnaround, posting a $60 million profit last year, and introduced a service excellence strategy that raised patient satisfaction scores.

Before coming to Henry Ford, Mr. Armada served as senior vice president and general manager at Kaiser Permanente in Los Angeles from 2000 to 2004.
